Chery Tiggo 7 Pro: Used Export Guide — Specs, Model Years, Markets, Price Bands
Model Overview
The Tiggo 7 Pro is the compact crossover Chery built its export business on. The original Tiggo 7 debuted in April 2016 as the fourth model in the Tiggo crossover line, and the “Pro” versions that dominate used export stock today are the facelifted, better-equipped evolution of that first-generation (T1X platform) car.
Two engines matter for export buyers:
- 1.5T turbo, 115 kW / 230 Nm, CVT25 transmission — the volume unit in China-market Tiggo 7 Pro stock. Chery claims 92.5% transmission efficiency and roughly 7% fuel savings versus a conventional automatic on this CVT.
- 1.6T turbo, 145 kW / 290 Nm, 7-speed DCT — the Tiggo 7 Pro Max top-trim engine. Note the Russian-market version of the same 1.6T is quoted at 150 hp / 275 Nm (Russian dealer spec sheets vs Chinese-market 197 hp figures — confirm per unit).
Dimensions of the first-generation Pro: roughly 4,500–4,505 mm long, 1,837–1,842 mm wide, 1,670–1,746 mm tall (height varies by trim and roof rails), wheelbase 2,670 mm.
Who buys this car? In Russia it was Chery’s single best-selling model — the Tiggo 7 Pro Max topped the brand’s Russian sales ranking, ahead of the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro Max. Chery the brand sold on the order of 157,000 cars in Russia in 2024, second among Chinese brands behind Haval’s 190,600. Resale values there are backed by dense dealer networks and cheap parts flow — which is exactly why used Tiggo 7 Pro exports move fast into the CIS.
Year-by-Year: What Changed
This is where most buyers get burned. The Tiggo 7 nameplate covers two different cars between 2020 and 2026.
- 2016 — first-generation Tiggo 7 debuts on the T1X platform
- 2020 — Chinese-market facelift; the “Tiggo 7 Pro” and “Tiggo 7 Plus” names appear on the updated first-gen car
- 2021–2022 — international rollout of the Tiggo 7 Pro; South African and other export-market units get the 1.5T (108 kW / 210 Nm in AU spec) or the 1.6T with 7DCT depending on trim
- 2022 — Tiggo 7 Pro Max joins as the premium trim: 1.6T, 7DCT, larger screens, driver-assist features. This is the trim Russian buyers made famous
- April 2024 — Chery reveals a second, much deeper facelift of the Tiggo 7 at its international dealer conference
- June 2024 — Pro Max facelift launches; Chery ran a 5-day, 12,400+ km public endurance test of the 1.6T in Russia that July to promote it (China-market press (Baidu Baike) account of the run; ask us for the spec sheet of the exact unit)
- November 1, 2024 — in China, Chery launches the new-generation Tiggo 7 Plus, the Tiggo 7 High Energy (a rebadged Tansuo 06), and the Tiggo 7 C-DM plug-in hybrid
- 2025 — the new-generation Tiggo 7 goes international: UK spec lists 4,553 × 1,862 mm, 1.6T petrol around 147 hp; Russia gets it as the Tiggo 7L, a 1.6T (150 hp) with 7-speed wet DCT, 2WD or AWD, trims Aktiv/Prime. Published wheelbase figures conflict — 2,670–2,672 mm in most international specs vs 2,720 mm on one official Chinese page (two sources listed; confirm per unit)
Our recommendation for used-export buyers: target the 2022–2023 Tiggo 7 Pro Max 1.6T. It has the stronger engine, the wet-feel 7DCT that buyers in Russia and the Gulf already know, and parts coverage. The 1.5T CVT suits fleet and budget buyers in Africa and Latin America. Treat any “2024/2025 Tiggo 7” as a different generation — confirm the trim and generation by photo of the front fascia and VIN before you commit money.
One detail that surprises newcomers: a “Tiggo 7 Pro Max 1.6T” sourced from China and the same nameplate sold new in Russia are not the same output — Chinese-market units run the 145 kW / 290 Nm tune, Russian-market cars are quoted 150 hp / 275 Nm. Check which market your unit was originally registered in, because the engine bay looks identical from two meters away.
Best Export Markets
Russia and the CIS. The strongest market, full stop. Chery’s Russian footprint means the used buyer can service the car anywhere between Moscow and Novosibirsk. Winter operation is a real topic: buyers there ask about cold starts, battery spec and the DCT’s behavior below -20°C. Shipments move through Novorossiysk and St. Petersburg; inland delivery to Kazakhstan and Belarus is common. For a landlocked CIS destination, our Uzbekistan import guide covers the rail routing and tax stack.
Middle East. LHD, so China-market stock registers without conversion issues. Gulf buyers care about A/C performance at 45°C+ ambient, desert dust ingestion, and paint condition after sand exposure. Jeddah and Dammam are the usual arrival gateways. Destination-side duties and registration rules change — confirm with your local customs broker. Our Saudi Arabia and UAE guides cover the duty tiers and conformity paperwork.
Africa (LHD markets). Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco take the 1.5T CVT cars in volume. Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and South Africa drive on the left — China-market units are left-hand drive and cannot be registered there without a local process, so right-hand-drive markets need special sourcing. Check the rules before you order. See our Africa market guide and the Nigeria import guide.
Latin America. Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay buyers take the Tiggo 7 Pro as a family crossover. Ask about service points before you commit a unit to a landlocked destination; parts for the 1.6T are the same as the Tiggo 8 Pro uses, which helps.
Common Problems & What to Check
Inspection focus for the 2020–2024 first-gen Pro cars:
- 7DCT behavior from standstill. Test it on an incline, in traffic-creep conditions, not just on an open road. Some reviewers of Chery’s 1.6T DCT cars noted brief low-speed jerkiness pulling away uphill (reviewer impressions — test that exact unit). Smooth does not mean healthy; sluggish restart after a hot traffic crawl is the tell.
- CVT whine on cold start. On 1.5T CVT units, listen at the first start of the day. A short belt whine that clears in seconds is common; a whine that persists under load needs a transmission check before you ship.
- Language and infotainment region lock. China-market units run Chinese-language menus and a Chery app ecosystem tied to a +86 phone number. Ask whether the head unit has your destination language pack loaded — this is a pre-shipment detail, not a destination fix.
- Flood and water damage. Pull the carpets, check the spare-wheel well and seat rails. Chinese coastal-city stock can carry typhoon-season history.
- Underbody corrosion. Units from northern China road-salt zones show frame rust at 4–5 years. Check suspension mounting points, not just cosmetic panels.
- Service records. A Tiggo 7 Pro with digital service history in the Chery China system is worth a premium over one with no records at the same mileage. Ask us to pull the record before you wire anything.

Export Documentation Notes
The Tiggo 7 Pro is a pure petrol car, so the document set is the simple one: purchase invoice, registration and deregistration papers, vehicle certificate, commercial invoice and packing list, certificate of origin, and the export customs declaration. No MSDS or UN38.3 battery report is needed — that applies to EV and hybrid units only. One timing note under China’s rules effective 2026: cars first registered more than 180 days ago export as standard used vehicles on the simplest path; near-new units under 180 days need extra manufacturer paperwork, so if you want a 2025-registered car, confirm its registration date with us first. FAQ
Q: Is the Tiggo 7 Pro the same car as the Tiggo 7 Pro Max? A: No. The Pro Max is the top trim of the same first-generation platform, with the 1.6T / 7DCT powertrain and more equipment. Same body shell family, different engine and level of kit.
Q: What is the Tiggo 7 “High”? A: In China since November 2024 the “Tiggo 7 High Energy” is a rebadged Tansuo 06 — a new-generation car, not a continuation of the Pro Max. If a supplier offers you a “2025 Tiggo 7 High”, you are buying a different platform. Ask us to confirm generation by VIN.
Q: Which year should I buy for the Russian market? A: 2022–2023 Pro Max 1.6T. It matches the specs Russian buyers already know, has dealer parts coverage, and pricing sits below the new-generation cars.
Q: Are China-market units left-hand drive? A: Yes. Fine for Russia, CIS, Middle East, continental Africa and Latin America; not registrable in right-hand-drive markets without a local process.
Q: What documents come with the car? A: Purchase invoice, deregistration/registration papers, vehicle certificate, commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, export declaration. Petrol car — no battery chemical reports needed.
Q: Do you quote a price to my port? A: We quote EXW (ex-works China) and FOB (Chinese port). Costs from the destination port onward — duties, clearance, local fees — you settle with your own customs broker; regulations change frequently. The difference between the two terms is set out in our EXW vs FOB guide.
Q: Can I inspect before paying? A: Yes. We provide live video inspection and can walk the car interior, engine bay and diagnostics with you on a call.
Q: How many Tiggo 7 Pro units fit in one container? A: Two compact SUVs is the standard loading for a 40-ft high-cube; loading method depends on final unit dimensions and your unloading equipment at destination. For over-height or lifted units, see our 40HQ vs 40FR guide.
